As well as showing off some of me new bits of video kit, in this video I tackle the subject of ambiguity in language, and spend some while on the word 'only'. I argue that ambiguity comes from a lack of imagination on the part of the writer (I am talking mainly about written language). Writers often fail to put themselves in the mind of a reader who does not have the benefit of hearing the tone of voice used by the writer. Just think how much irony gets missed in on-line chats.

Noam Chomsky, Steven Pinker, Evelina Fedorenko, and Daniel Dor join Brian Greene to grapple with the foundations of language.
Language ranks among the most powerful influences on human existence. Even so, language presents many mysteries that are the subject of heated debate. Was there a rewiring of the human brain which gave us the capacity for language? Or is it a human invention developed to facilitate group cooperation? Is language primarily a communication tool or the substrate of inner thought? And how is it that with a few choice phrases language can fire the imagination or transport us to the stars?

As well as showing off some of me new bits of video kit, in this video I tackle the subject of ambiguity in language, and spend some while on the word 'only'. I argue that ambiguity comes from a lack of imagination on the part of the writer (I am talking mainly about written language). Writers often fail to put themselves in the mind of a reader who does not have the benefit of hearing the tone of voice used by the writer. Just think how much irony gets missed in on-line chats.

DREAM WARRIOR | The Power of Your Imagination
Motivation By Billy Alsbrooks
"Arise champion. The way of the warrior. Champion eyes. Get back up. My spirit cries. Fear dies. Choked out by the scream. The desire to climb. And live out my dream. Take it for the team. Discipline reins. I want it too bad to listen to the pain. I'm a Warrior." – Billy Alsbrooks
